Bus 72 in Godalming High Street parked outside the Pepperpot

Don't cut Godalming's bus service

Surrey County Council's "Future Bus Network Consultation" puts vital bus links under threat, affecting all of our residents who rely on buses to get to work, education, leisure or to see their GP.

The review proposes severe cuts to the 42 route, which links Guildford, Godalming and Cranleigh. It would remove stops on Catteshall Lane that provide access to The Mill Medical Practice, which serves over 16,000 patients. Most timetabled services would be cut, instead requiring residents to book journeys in advance on a minibus (so-called "Digital Demand Responsive Transport", DDRT).

The key 70/71/72 route that links Godalming, Ockford, Milford, Haslemere and Midhurst would have cuts to morning and evening services, creating a curfew for residents who depend on buses for work, shopping and leisure.

We call on Conservative-run Surrey County Council to protect the key bus routes for Godalming, Milford and our villages. The bus network is a sustainable and affordable means of transport. At a time of great concern about the environment and during a cost of living crisis, it must be protected, not torn down.

Don't cut Godalming's bus service

We, the undersigned, call on Surrey County Council to protect the 42 and 70/71/72 bus services serving Godalming and villages.
