Is Farnham Really Paying Over £1 Million To Spend A Penny?
Call on Farnham Town Council to spend less than the proposed £1m on the planned new toilet block in Gostrey Meadows
There is no doubt that Gostrey Meadows needs a modern, accessible, toilet block with baby-changing facilities, but does it really need to cost over £1 million to build one on land that the Council already owns?
The Farnham Resident Party Councillors that run Farnham Town Council refuse to listen to the Lib Dem opposition voices seeking a more cost-effective option.
Instead, they press on with their vision for an “award winning building”, whatever the cost.
The vast majority of the funds will come from what’s called Neighbourhood CIL. Money paid by property developers to provide much needed infrastructure for communities across Farnham from Heath End to the Bourne, and from Wrecclesham to Bagshot Lea.
Money that could be spent on things like doctors’ surgeries, playgrounds and village halls.
Money that would make a difference to the communities where new housing is being built.
