Missing in Action: Where is Conservative Councillor Staunton?

When we entrust public office to our elected councillors, it is with the expectation that they will faithfully uphold the responsibilities of representation, and at the very least turn up to Council meetings. 

Recent figures emerging from Waverley Borough Council raise serious concerns about whether that trust is being honoured in full by at least one Conservative Borough Councillor 

Below is a report from The Herald highlighting the case of Councillor Staunton in the Western Commons ward and it is sparking calls from local residents and opposition councillors for something to be done so that the people of the Western Commons ward are properly represented.

After the scandals of the last Tory Government and the recent behaviour of Angela Rayner, Waverley Liberal Democrats believe it is more important than ever that our elected representatives uphold the highest standards. We believe Councillor Staunton’s behaviour is unacceptable and are calling for action to be taken, be it for him to stand down, the Conservatives to withdraw the whip or for him to turn up and honour his duty.
