Don’t Let Reform UK Take Us Down the American Road: The NHS Is Too Precious to Lose

Nigel Farage and Reform UK are pushing a dangerous agenda — one that could put the very future of our NHS at risk.

Let’s be clear: Reform’s talk of “efficiency” and “reform” is often code for cutting public services and opening the door to privatisation. Farage has made no secret of his admiration for the U.S. model — a model where your ability to get care depends on your wallet, not your need.

We only have to look across the Atlantic to see where that road leads.

In the United States, medical debt is a national crisis. Around 100 million Americans are now saddled with medical debt. Each year, as many as 550,000 people file for bankruptcy because of medical bills — and 66.5% of all bankruptcies cite medical costs as a major reason. That’s not a safety net. That’s a nightmare.

Here in the UK, the NHS was built on a simple, powerful principle: that everyone should have access to healthcare, free at the point of use. It’s one of our proudest achievements — and the Liberal Democrats are absolutely committed to defending it.

We know the NHS is under strain. Years of underfunding, staff shortages, and increasing demand have taken their toll. But the answer isn’t to dismantle it or turn it into a U.S.-style system. The answer is proper investment, fair funding, and genuine reform — the kind that improves care, not cuts it.

Farage and Reform UK may shout loud, but their vision is clear: less public funding, more private profit. That’s a real risk to your family’s health and financial security.

We can’t afford to be complacent. If you value the NHS, now’s the time to stand up for it.

Vote Liberal Democrat. Protect our NHS. Say no to Reform.
