Liberal Democrats Join the Community at Farnham’s Sustainability Festival
The Waverley Liberal Democrats were proud to take part in the Sustainability Festival held in Gostrey Meadow, Farnham. With the sun shining and the community out in force, the event offered a fantastic platform to celebrate environmental initiatives and share ideas for a greener future.
The Liberal Democrats hosted a lively and engaging stall where children were invited to draw their favourite thing about the world (see picture) – a creative activity that sparked thoughtful conversations among families about what makes our planet special and worth protecting. These individual artworks were combined into a collaborative display that grew throughout the day, with contributions not just from young visitors, but also from Liberal Democrat councillors, Farnham’s Town Crier, and the Mayor – all of whom stopped by to join in the fun and share their thoughts. We also provided the following fun quiz for kids to test their environmental knowledge.
The stall also featured environmental-themed jigsaws and information on the Liberal Democrats’ “Fair Deal for the Environment,” highlighting the party’s commitment to tackling climate change and promoting sustainability at every level of government.
Theresa Meredith-Hardy, Waverley Liberal Democrat campaigner, said: “It was a wonderful day, full of energy and community spirit. Sustainability is such a vital issue – not just for us today but for future generations. As Jillian Ambrose from The Guardian said at our earlier event this year, it's really important we keep having the conversations about sustainability. That’s what today was about: keeping the momentum going, listening to one another, and inspiring action together.”
The festival proved yet again that Farnham is a town deeply engaged in environmental action and collective change. The Waverley Liberal Democrats look forward to continuing to support and champion local sustainability efforts throughout the year.
