Liberal Democrats Reselect Khalil Yousuf as their parliamentary candidate for Farnham & Bordon
The reselection follows major Liberal Democrat gains in the recent West Surrey unitary elections, where the party won control of the council with 56 councillors elected across West Surrey, including seven councillors from the divisions in the Farnham & Bordon constituency.
A solicitor and business owner, Khalil runs a successful legal practice, with an office in Farnham, providing general counsel-level support to British businesses. Khalil also serves as Chairman of Lawyers for Humanity, which provides free legal support to people in need across the UK. He was also shortlisted by the Law Society for its Legal Heroes Awards in recognition of his public service work. Alongside his professional career, he has built a strong record of charitable leadership and community campaigning.
Khalil is a director of a medical foundation supporting a maternity hospital, eye hospital, and general hospital in Africa, providing free healthcare to some of the poorest communities. He also serves as Vice Chairman of the Farnham-based, volunteer-run charity Beacon of Peace, which has helped raise millions of pounds for British charities and community causes.
His local campaigning has focused on tackling the cost-of-living crisis, improving access to NHS dental treatment and primary healthcare services, supporting families dealing with SEND provision challenges, protecting educational opportunities for young people, and supporting foodbanks across the constituency. Khalil also fought to save the Future Skills Centre in Bordon, mentors students at two schools, and lectures at undergraduate level.
Commenting on his reselection, Khalil Yousuf said:
“I’m honoured to have been reselected as the Liberal Democrat candidate for Farnham, Haslemere, Bordon and its surrounding villages.
At the last election, thousands of residents placed their trust in our positive campaign for stronger local services, better healthcare, and a fairer future for our communities. Since then, I have continued working across the constituency supporting residents, local charities, schools, and community organisations.
Too many people are struggling with the rising cost of living, pressure on household finances, difficulties accessing NHS dentists and GP appointments, and the ongoing challenges families face securing SEND support. Residents deserve a strong local voice that listens, works hard, and delivers practical solutions.
I’m passionate about protecting educational opportunities for young people, supporting local businesses and community groups, and ensuring people across Farnham, Bordon, and the surrounding villages receive the services and investment they deserve.
I look forward to continuing to speak with residents across the Farnham & Bordon constituency as we build an even stronger campaign for the future.”
Julia Stubbs, Chair of Waverley Liberal Democrats, said:
“We need a strong Liberal Democrat voice in both parliament and locally. So, we welcome Khalil and look forward to him working with our excellent team of councillors, to build on our recent strong results in the West Surrey Unitary Authority elections.
Local elections next year will give the opportunity for Khalil and the team to further develop our ability to fight for local residents and so help lay the foundation for a Liberal Democrat success in the next General Election.”
Paul Wigman, Chair of East Hampshire Liberal Democrats, said:
“Now that we have our Prospective Parliamentary Candidate in place we can move forward and convert our excellent local results into National ones at the next General Election. A Liberal Democrat MP for Farnham and Bordon.
The Farnham & Bordon constituency is a key target seat for the Liberal Democrats, and Khalil’s selection marks a significant step in the party’s campaign to win representation for local residents in Westminster.”
