Local Government Reorganisation Consultation Sessions

WLD

Right now, the government is running a consultation on the future of local government in Surrey, open until 5th August. Two options are being considered: reorganising Surrey into either three or two unitary authorities. While this isn’t a traditional public consultation, it’s the only opportunity residents, community groups, and stakeholders will get to share their views with the government.

Waverley Borough Council is running a number of “engagement sessions” on local government reorganisation, hosted by Council Leader, Cllr Paul Follows.

Four sessions will be held across Haslemere, Farnham, Godalming and Cranleigh, with details below. The sessions will explain what Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) is, outline the different options being considered, and show you how to get involved:

  • Haslemere: Monday 14th July, 7-8:30pm, The Lecture Hall, Haslemere Museum.
  • Farnham: Wednesday 16th July, 7-8:30pm, Bush Hotel.
  • Godalming: Tuesday 22nd July, 7-8:30pm, The Caudle Hall, Wilfrid Noyce Centre.
  • Cranleigh: Tuesday 29th July, 7-8:30pm, Cranleigh Methodist Church.

You can get more information or register for one of these events here.

There is also an online Webinar on Monday 4th August from 7-8:00pm.

You’ll also have the chance to ask questions about what these changes could mean for you, your family, and your community.
