Parking Picks up in Farnham

WLD

Waverley Borough Council’s parking figures for November brought good news for Farnham’s retailers and hospitality outlets.

With Downing Street now reopened, Farnham’s car parks showed a 5.5% increase in tickets sold compared with sales from August through October this year.

Cllr Tony Fairclough, Portfolio Holder for Regulatory Enforcement at Lim Dem led Waverley Borough Council, welcomed the news.

“From April to July, the Town Centre Improvement Works had little to no effect on tickets sold in our Farnham car parks, with overall figures almost identical to the same period in 2024.

Even after the closure of Downing Street in August, ticket sales were broadly in line with 2024, with one notable exception. The Lower Hart car park began to show a concerning year on year decline, with visitors from the south of Farnham having no direct access to it.

Thankfully, with Downing Street now reopen, tickets sales in the Lower Hart have increased by 8.75% compared to October. That remains down year on year, but we’re confident that the introduction of our “£1 From 1:00pm” offer, that started on Tuesday and is available in Waverley operated Farnham car parks from Monday to Thursday until New Year’s Day, will further stimulate the use of all of our car parks, including Lower Hart”.
