Settlement Reached on Godalming Station Taxi Situation

WLD

Many local residents have been aware of the situation at Godalming Station since the transfer of the South Western Railway-owned taxi rank to Clocktower Cars.

The Godalming taxi rank is a vital part of the transport network throughout the town and it has been crucial to ensure that normality can resume.

To that end - and having been asked by many residents, businesses and visitors to intervene and help negotiate a settlement - Leader of Godalming Town Council and Waverley Borough Council, Paul Follows, and his officers have worked with both Clocktower Cars and local independent taxi drivers to come to a resolution.

With discussions concluding at an in-person final negotiation meeting, chaired by Paul at Waverley Borough Council, an amicable settlement has now been reached. Paul wishes to thank both parties for their constructive engagement with these discussions as well as the work put in by Waverley Borough Council officers.

This agreement should mean that taxi operations at Godalming station can return to business as usual. We ask that residents use our local businesses and services wherever possible, knowing that all drivers share this view.
