Save our Ambulance Stations
South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) has announced plans for a "Make Ready" ambulance centre in Farnborough, to serve Waverley and the wider West Surrey area. As part of these plans, the future of ambulance facilities in Godalming, Haslemere, Guildford, and Tongham are now under review.
This leaves a real possibility that the southern boroughs of West Surrey, home to hundreds of thousands of residents, could ultimately be left without a single permanent ambulance station nearby.
West Surrey is not a compact urban area. Alongside our towns, it covers large rural areas, villages and hamlets across the Surrey Hills, served by small rural roads and busy larger roads that are prone to congestion. For a cardiac arrest, a stroke or a serious accident, every minute matters. Moving ambulance bases further away from the people who need them risks longer waits, and longer waits cost lives.
SECAmb's own website admits that it expects some impact on its performance while new Make Ready centres bed in.
We support investment in cleaner, better-equipped ambulances. But that investment must not come at the cost of local emergency cover for patients in Godalming, Haslemere, Guildford, and Tongham and the wider West Surrey community.
You can make your voice heard today and send a clear message: West Surrey's ambulance services must be protected.

We, the undersigned, are opposed to the closure of ambulance facilities in Guildford, Godalming, Tongham and Haslemere.
