Farnham Liberal Democrats have revealed Frimley Hospital uses a structurally weak form of concrete. The material has been described as “a ticking time bomb” by one NHS boss.

Last year one hospital in Cambridgeshire that uses the “RAAC” concrete had to ban patients over a certain weight from a number of operating theatres due to the risk of the floor collapsing. There are 19 affected hospitals nationwide.

Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate for South West Surrey, Paul Follows said: “It is shameful that patients are being treated in crumbling hospitals. The new Health Secretary must visit Frimley and deliver urgent upgrades.

“We are being totally ignored by this Conservative government. People here face sky high waits for ambulances, GPs and dentists. Now we discover that patients are being treated in buildings at risk of collapse. Farnham deserves better.”
