I’m Keith Buchanan. I’ve lived in Hindhead with my wife and son for ten years. We’ve made our home here and love being part of a village-based community.

I’m standing to be a Liberal Democrat Councillor in Waverley Western Villages because I want to protect our village way of life, but also because we deserve much better than the inadequate financial management and failing services that we’ve seen in Surrey in recent years. After a career in financial services and procurement, financial competence and cost efficiency will always be a key focus for me.

As a councillor, I would see it as my main role to support local residents in their day-to-day dealings with the new West Surrey Unitary Authority and also to ensure that the villages’ voice continues to be heard. Other priorities for me include campaigning on protecting our environment and greenspaces from sewage spills, inappropriate development and increased air traffic.

I also care deeply about education and special needs provision, of which I have direct experience within my family, and am committed to assisting residents who are facing severe challenges in these areas.
