Liz Townsend for Cranleigh & Ewhurst
As a committed county councillor, I am standing for election to the new West Surrey Council with a strong record of delivery and a clear focus on getting results for our community. I believe effective local representation starts with listening, and I work year-round with residents to turn concerns into practical action.
Improving road safety has been a key priority. I have delivered road safety schemes across the area, securing funding, working closely with officers, and responding directly to residents’ concerns. Alongside measures to reduce speeds and improve safety in villages, I have also taken action on potholes and the condition of our roads, which affect everyone’s daily lives.
Where local services have been lacking, I have stepped in to help. I set up a Cranleigh-based parent support group for families of children with additional needs and continue to work to ensure support is available closer to home. I have also been a strong voice for climate action, protecting our countryside, and holding Thames Water to account over sewage discharges into our rivers and streams.
There is more to do. I am determined to keep tackling the state of our roads, improve unreliable mobile phone coverage, and stand up for our communities as the new council is established.
As your councillor, I will continue to listen, work hard and deliver practical solutions that improve everyday life for local residents.
