Lib Dem Laura Cavaliere celebrates by-election victory in Hunt’s back yard
The Liberal Democrats’ Laura Cavaliere bounded ahead of the Conservatives in Witley & Milford, despite Jeremy Hunt and his team throwing everything into the campaign.
Waverley Liberal Democrats are delighted to announce Laura Cavaliere as their candidate for the Witley & Milford by-election - the local champion for the villages of Witley, Milford, Brook and Enton.
After respected Lib Dem councillor Andy Law passed away recently, a by-election will be held on Thursday 2nd May to elect a new councillor at Waverley Borough Council, led by Cllr Paul Follows and the local Liberal Democrats.
Laura lives in the centre of Milford and runs her own successful small business; as a local resident of 14 years, she shares the concerns of her neighbours - whether that be the ever deepening cost of living crisis that’s putting huge pressure on local families, or the difficulty of getting a GP or dentist appointment when you need one.
As our local councillor, she will work with the local Lib Dem team to fight for a new GP practice facility for our area, to ensure local residents can get the care they need when they need it.
Laura will be an active, visible and hard-working local councillor for Witley and Milford, listening to your concerns and taking action on the issues that affect you most.
Having called Milford my home for the last 14 years, I feel a strong bond with this beautiful village and neighbouring communities. That’s why I’m putting myself forward to be your local councillor, motivated by the desire to give back to the place that has given me so much.
On the same day, Paul Kennedy will be up against the Conservatives as we elect a new Police & Crime Commissioner for Surrey. Paul has been holding the Tory PCC to account for years and, with a background in criminal law and finance, is an excellent choice to improve frontline police services.
Local Lib Dems are calling for the successful Godalming anti-social behaviour Public Spaces Protection Order to be extended to cover our area, and give the police more powers to tackle problems here.
Last May, the election came to a nail-biting finish with Lib Dem Andy Law only seven votes ahead of the losing Conservative candidate, so every vote counts in our area.
The Lib Dems are the only party which can beat the Conservatives here.
Don't forget to bring valid photo ID to vote, or apply for a Voter Authority Certificate as soon as possible. If you're unable to vote on the day, you may still be able to register for a proxy vote.
Let Laura know that you'll be backing her on Thursday 2nd May. It will be a very close election, so every vote will count.
